Run gron in the browser

Flatten JSON into one assignment per line so it can be searched with grep — and turn it back.

Caution · No live sample on this page: On NanoVM v0.2.1 the Go runtime fails to start: with the default 512 MB guest it aborts with fatal error: failed to reserve page summary memory, and with the 1.8 GB guest it did not finish starting within the sample's instruction budget — so even gron --version cannot run in the browser yet. The package installs and verifies; it is listed so the page is ready once Go binaries are supported.

What it is

gron transforms JSON into discrete path = value; statements, which makes deep documents easy to explore with grep, diff and sed; gron --ungron converts filtered statements back into JSON.

Install and run it from your page

With the SDK, installApp resolves gron in the signed index, fetches its content-addressed chunks from the CDN, verifies each one and writes the files into the VM. Details in Installing catalog apps.

javascript
import { createNano } from "@userland-run/nano-sdk";

const nano = await createNano({ image: { wasm: "/nano/console.wasm" } });
await nano.installApp("gron"); // signature-verified, cached in OPFS
// Installs and verifies today; see the note at the top of this page before running it.

Typical usage of the upstream command-line tool:

bash
gron api-response.json | grep email | gron --ungron
