Run dust in the browser

A more intuitive du: shows which directories use the most space as a tree with proportional bars.

Try it live

Nothing is downloaded until you press Run.

catalog app

Check the installed dust build

Installs dust 1.2.4 from the signed catalog (every chunk is verified before it is written), then runs the commands below in the VM's shell.

bash
dust --version
dust --help | head -n 3
loading…
Expected output
$ dust --version
Dust 1.2.4
$ dust --help | head -n 3
Like du but more intuitive

Usage: dust [OPTIONS] [PATH]...

What it is

dust prints the largest entries under a path as a tree, with bars that show each entry's share of the total, so the big directories stand out without sorting du output by hand.

Install and run it from your page

With the SDK, installApp resolves dust in the signed index, fetches its content-addressed chunks from the CDN, verifies each one and writes the files into the VM. Details in Installing catalog apps.

javascript
import { createNano } from "@userland-run/nano-sdk";

const nano = await createNano({ image: { wasm: "/nano/console.wasm" }, ramMB: 512 });
await nano.installApp("dust"); // signature-verified, cached in OPFS

const r = await nano.shExec("dust --version");
console.log(r.stdout);

Typical usage of the upstream command-line tool:

bash
dust -d 2 ~/projects
