Run rnr in the browser

Rename many files and directories at once with a regex — dry run by default.

Try it live

Nothing is downloaded until you press Run.

catalog app

Preview a rename (dry run)

Installs rnr 0.5.1 from the signed catalog (every chunk is verified before it is written), then runs the commands below in the VM's shell.

bash
rnr --version
rnr regex draft final draft-a.md
loading…
Expected output
$ rnr --version
rnr 0.5.1
$ rnr regex draft final draft-a.md
This is a DRY-RUN
draft-a.md -> final-a.md

What it is

rnr renames files whose names match a regular expression, with capture groups in the replacement. It only prints the planned renames unless you pass -f, and can write a dump to undo a run.

Install and run it from your page

With the SDK, installApp resolves rnr in the signed index, fetches its content-addressed chunks from the CDN, verifies each one and writes the files into the VM. Details in Installing catalog apps.

javascript
import { createNano } from "@userland-run/nano-sdk";

const nano = await createNano({ image: { wasm: "/nano/console.wasm" }, ramMB: 512 });
await nano.installApp("rnr"); // signature-verified, cached in OPFS

const r = await nano.shExec("rnr --version");
console.log(r.stdout);

Typical usage of the upstream command-line tool:

bash
rnr regex -f 'IMG_(\d+)' 'photo-$1' *.jpg
